Endocrinology is the study of hormones. Hormones are chemical messengers that travel between cells. They are vital for day-to-day survival. They have many functions including the control of metabolism, growth, stress, mood, temperature and sleep.

An Endocrinologist is a specialist doctor that treats diseases related to problems with hormones. To become an Endocrinologist a doctor must complete their Internship followed by at least 3 years of general training in internal medicine and then a further 3 years of specialist training in Endocrinology.
